Photophob has been well-known to the tonAtom-audience for a long time. now herwig holzmann returns using his real-life name. the name he has been for years now for his ambient releases. this release is in the tradition of "how to stop..." (autoplate #46) and "november 30th" (which still was released as a photophob release on tonAtom back in 2005) and keeps all promises resulting from this - and more.

"yes, we're mobile." discusses the role of mobility in modern, western life. the main topic is the fact that we are taking for granted that both personal information and we ourselves are travelling this planet constantly and effortlessly.
Samples and field recordings taken from his own mobile realm of eperience are processed and alienated with virtuosity. which results in soundscapes through which the audience can travel, searching for the familiar und the unfamiliar. great to have him (away from his home port laridae.at) back at tonAtom... yes, he's mobile.

The Lights Galaxia is Joseph Snodgrass from Spokane, WA. (USA) and was started in 02009 with the idea to great a sound catalogue of electronic based music with strong consideration of the principles of the Long Now Foundation - or the long long term thinking where slower = better as a counterpoint to todays fast moving, and sadly short term world.

What is Hippocamp.net? - it's a web based music label and community that releases free music and media from up-and-coming artists.
What is a Hippocamp? - a Hippocamp is a mythical sea creature, half fish and half horse. It is also a region in the brain, a shortened version of the word Hippocampus.
How do I get involved? - We've released music by people all over the world, as the site's grown the quality of the music has increased with it. When the site begun we tried to put out all the music that was sent to us but now unfortunately we've had to limit the output. Feel free to send us your music, if it fits in with the rest of the releases we'll put it out.
Is there any money involved? - No, everything on the site is free. No money has ever changed hands apart from the website hosting fee and it'll hopefully stay that way.
Where is it based? - Most of the artists live in or originate from Manchester, UK - but its not exclusively a Northern thing.

Hörschwelle - Sunday in Black Forest

Hörschwelle (Guido Muschack) was born in December 1971 in (East) Berlin, where he spent his whole life. At When being 13 years old, he bought a rare electronic-music record, with the tracks inspired from early electronic artists like Can, Kraftwerk, Vollenweider, Tangerine Dream. This record made significant impression, Guido felt in love in that kind of music. But the catastrophic „culture care" in East Germany and the impossibility to purchase records made him to forget these love for a few years.
But in 1995, late at night after a party, he discovered on TV "Space Night" a collection of Video-Sequences, showing the earth from Space Shuttle, with modern electronic lounge and ambient music on background. This was the reborn of passion for music. Between 1997 and 2005 a lot of time was spent in Berlin clubs like Tresor, Globus, KitKatClub, Berghain and Bar25. So Guido was influenced from styles like techno, deep house, goa, detroit techno, minimal.
He left "loud music" behind, and now the focus is on ambient, deep dub tech, minimal electronic arrangements, with a touch of old school. Having spent some money for pc workstation, DAW and studio equipment Hörschelle now spends hours and hours for experiments with synth sounds and sampled loops, often without a concept, only with the feeling for textures and sweeps, filter envelopes or stacking delay...
